A Halloween card that sings their name
Bats cross the moon while a ball creeps through Grieg's In the Hall of the Mountain King, with new spooky words, and lands on their name on the very last note. Send it as a link or save the video.
The words
Something's creeping up the stairs, / trick or treat, who goes there? / Ghosts and goblins, bats and black cats, / Halloween, dear… their name. The tune creeps upward the way the original does, so the name arrives on the longest, highest note, right before the confetti.
About the tune
In the Hall of the Mountain King was written by Edvard Grieg in 1875 for Henrik Ibsen's play Peer Gynt, where the hero sneaks into the hall of the troll king. Its creeping, repeating melody has been the soundtrack of choice for anything sinister or sneaky ever since, from cartoons to film trailers. Grieg died in 1907 and the music is in the public domain; the Halloween words are new and written for this card.
Ideas
- For kids. Put their name in and play it before trick-or-treating. The bats and the creeping tune do the rest.
- For the group chat. Make one for the friend who goes all out for Halloween every year.
- For a party invite. Write the time and place in the message, it appears under their name at the end.
